Jennifer Tilly, a seasoned and famed Hollywood actress, is also known for her keen hand at poker. The 60 year old player has been at the WSOP championship and even formed a love story at the poker table with Phil Laak, to whom she is now married. The couple got married in 2004 and it would seem theirs is a strong love affair which all began over a little game we like to call Texas Hold’Em. Phil Laak, also known as ‘the Unabomber’, is an Irish poker player residing in Los Angeles, who can usually dons a hoodie and sunglasses or, as many can remember, Laak wore ski goggles to the 2014 World Series of Poker.
Laak is the proud owner of WSOP bracelet, one of the most coveted awards as a poker player and one of the biggest awards to receive in a poker gaming career. The famous poker player has won approximately $3.7 million, whopping amount for any player. In addition to an impressive rep, the avid poker player went on to get an entry in the Guinness Book of Records as ‘Poker Player Edurance’ after playing for a solid 115 hours back in 2010.
Having a look at Laak’s poker career, it is as plain as daylight to see the guy has some serious skill and Tilly being a seasoned player too was attracted to Laak’s keen poker abilities. The two met at the poker table and immediately forged a bond.

Jennifer Tilly almost made poker her career until she became more famed in acting, when she then dropped poker and made it more of a hobby. The famous actress won her WSOP bracelet in the Ladies No Limit Texas Hold’Em and then only a few months later she won the World Poker Tournament Invitational. Like her other half, the actress has also been dubbed ‘The Unabombshell’.
In 2004, when the pair first met, it was at the World Poker Tour Invitational. The event was won by Laak and with Jennifer Tilly being more interested in poker than acting; she naturally took to the renowned poker player. Phil offered his skills to the stunning actress and through learning and a passion for the same game, the two fell instantly in love. Tilly was the one to initiate the romance by asking Phil for his number but never actually calling.
The now married couple ended up meeting again and this is when Phil asked for her number and did actually call. History was made and now the pair has been together for 15 years in total and still as happy as ever.
So was it the man? Or perhaps it was the love for poker that brought the two together. We can only assume at this point!
